The Mayo College is a boy’s only boarding school in the city of Ajmer and is also known as Eton of the East. Founded by the then Viceroy of India, Richard Bourke in the year 1875, this school is among the oldest boarding public schools of India and was built with white marble. This college was built to provide similar education to the leaders of princely states as given in the public schools of United Kingdom. It is regarded as the best educational institutes of India and it is an ideal example of Indo-Saracenic architecture style.
The Danmal Mathur Museum finds its home in this college. Priceless antiques are showcased inthe museum which is a delight for history lovers. This museum is regarded as the best college museum in the whole world and it houses many beautiful artifacts of the previous centuries. Special permission is required to visit the museum as not everyone is allowed inside the college premises.
