The Someshwar Temple is an eminent Hindu shrine in the region of Alibag. It was constructed in the legacy of Satwahana. The temple is situated in close proximity to Deepasthambh.
Someshwar Mandir is located at Akshi Beach, which is around 3kms away from the main city. While travelling to the beach you may witness many shilas, one of which lies very close to the Mandir. The temple houses a very beautiful idol of Lord Shiva, who is also known as Someshwar. It is said that the Mandir has a story linked to it, which tells that Shiva once drank an ocean full of venom and later agitated it into nectar. Tourists often visit this holy shrine to get the blessings of Lord Shiva.
The temple was established under the reign of Satvahana rulers, who imprinted their style of art and splendid architectural designs during its construction.
