Undheri Fort

Undheri fort is located at a distance of about 0.3kms from Khanderi fort. Constructed on an island, it is tagged as an island fort. It was build under the reign of Siddi Qasam in the year 1680.

However, the Undheri Fort was ruled by different rulers and changed hands from the Peshwas, East India Company of British, Siddis and the Angres. It is a beautiful structure built with fine carvings and paintings on its walls, which spell bound the visitors. Once you enter the fort you can envisage yourself transferred back to the medieval period.

Today the fort is under the observation of Bombay port trust. They have complete charge to safeguard and look after its maintenance, so as to preserve this prominent and ancient structure. Without their permission you are not allowed to enter its premises. For tourists there are special local fishing boats, also known as thal boats, available for fishing and visiting the fort.
