Murugan Temple

Location: Murugan temple lies on the Elk hill. This is one of the most beautiful hills which are located in Ooty, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. This temple holds special relevance amongst the people belonging to Toda tribe.

Description: The main deity of this beautiful temple is Lord Murugan. Being situated on a hill, this temple offers splendid views of the valley. The serene and scenic beauty of the region is sure to leave its visitors fascinated. This temple is visited by the tourists all around the year; however maximum rush is witnessed during January and February. Around this time, the celebrations of Thaipusam festival are at its peak and devotees offer milk to the lord as a mark of their respect. Some people also carry Palanquins with them which are decorated with peacock feathers, brass bells and flowers. Kavadi Attam is regarded as the main highlight of this festival. This is a local dance form which is performed by the pilgrims.
