Ooty is full of churches and Holy Trinity is one the most important churches on the list of cultural representations here. This is one of the most ancient landmarks of the city and has stained glass windows with some of the most intricate and beautiful carvings and cemeteries.
The church was established in the year 1858 and since then it is worshipped by the people as a holy place. In the past the church was used only for conducting Sunday prayers. George Uglao Pope, who was a famous Tamil scholar and a great translator, is believed to be closely associated with the Holy Trinity Church from its inception. Some of his famous work as a Chaplain between the years 1958 and 1959 can also be found in the church.
