This dam is located at a distance of 25 kilometers from a place named Udumalpet in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. Amaravathi Dam is an engineering design master piece; it is a form of repository built over the Cauvery River. Amaravathi Dam is renowned because of a crocodile farm and this serves as a special feature of this dam. Large number of tourists visits this place to witness its beauty. The main objective of this dam is to facilitate the supply of water to various parts of the state for irrigation purpose; it makes use of the water from Cauvery River to do this. The dam is a tall structure and the height of this dam is estimated to be around 90 feet. Due to these reasons it is considered as an asset for the Coimbatore district as well as the state of Tamil Nadu.
