Rang Mahal, Chamba HP

Raja Umed Singh was the founder of Rang Mahal and it is located in Surara Mohalla. This Mahal once served as the residential building of the ruling dynasty and its beautiful structure is a blend of the Mughal and British architectural design. The walls of this memorial, constructed in the eighteenth century, are decorated with wall paintings of Punjab hill style depicting the life of Lord Krishna.

Various paintings from this palace have been shifted to Delhi national museum. Himachal Emporium is also present in Rang Mahal which remains open from Monday to Saturday and the timings are from 10 in the morning to 1 pm, then again from 2 pm to 5 pm. This emporium is a source of excitement for the shoppers as they get a chance to purchase graceful items, like shawls prepared on wooden looms, rumals that are handmade and chapals etc.
