Gangeshwar Temple, Daman and Diu

Gangeshwar Temple

The village of Fudam is located at a distance of just 3 km from the town of Diu and is also home to one of the most well known temples dedicated to Lord Shiva called the Gangeshwar Temple. The origin of this temple is attributed to the Pandavas who created the five Shivalingas on the shore while they visited this place during their exile from their Kingdom. The Shivaling is a stone representation of the reproductive organs of Lord Shiva and these 5 lingams can be found at the seashore adjoining the Gangeshwar Temple. Tourists can visit this temple to see the intricate design which has gone into the creation of this temple. During the festivals devoted to Lord Shiva like MahaShivratri, tourists can also get to see a large number of devotees come to this temple and learn a great deal about one of the most prominent places of worship in this area.
