Located on a hill top, at a distance of 3km from the metropolis centre, is the stupendous structure of Enchey Monastery. This ancient monastery was built about 200 years ago, under the supervision of legendary Lame Druptab Karpn, a Tantrik guru well known for his magical powers.
It has a myth associated with it which states that a small hut was built at this spot by Lame Druptab Karpn when he flew back from south Sikkim, Maenam hill. Later on in the year 1909-1910, this present structure was constructed, which is known as Enchey Monastery whose literal meaning is 'Solitary Temple'. It was constructed under the supremacy of Sikyong Tulku who decided to shape it in the form of Chinese Pagoda that accommodates about 90 monks of same order, in its premises.
For devotees, the monastery is a great place tovisit. You can see historic descriptions of Gods and Goddesses and the beautiful structures of Loki Sharia and Guru Padmasambhava who are worshipped here.
