The 18th June Road is one of the major roads which can be found in the capital of Goa, Panaji. It is not the number of shops present here or the large volumes of city traffic which travel across this road every day, but the historical significance of this road which is an important constituent of the olden times of not only this beautiful state, but this country as well. 18th June Road is named after the same date and location where in the year 1946 Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, one of the most active and prominent activists of the Quit India Movement, as well as countless other non - violent strugglers for a free and independent India, called for the end of the rule of the Portuguese in India. Today, this street is home to a large number of malls and shopping complexes where visitors can come and meet all their retail requirements.
