Fishing has since long been a critical component of Goa’s culture, as well as its economy, given its location as a coastal state of India. Fishing as a business provides the income and sustenance they require to a vast majority of Goa’s population. However, this does not in any way mean that the people who are travelling to Goa on a vacation cannot indulge in the same as well. There are a large number of local fishermen who would be more than happy for an extra pair of hands helping them out, but those tourists seeking a more personal approach can also hire boats which they can take to certain locations to fish. There is a very large variety of tackles available here with the local favorites being shrimp and small sardines. Those tourists who want to try their hand at catching fish in a net, however, will have to get up before the crack of dawn and head to the beach because that is when the locals head out.
