Sri Nagueshi Temple is an important and one of the most respected temples in the state of Goa. Inscriptions as are present in the temple reveal that the temple was built in the year 1413. The temple is devoted to Nagueshi or in other words, lord Shiva and has an idol of Nandi, the vehicle of lord Shiva, at the very entrance. The main hall that is used as the place for worship is adorned and designed in an excellent manner with wooden pillars that are very beautifully carved. Stories from Ramayana and Mahabharata are depicted through the carvings.
The five storied lamp tower and a tank full of water that displays the reflection of Shiva in sanctum when the lamps are lighted add to its beauty. This temple has a glorious history as it has not been intruded throughout its long history so it is thought of as an archaeological marvel.
