The Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary is the perfect place to visit for those tourists who want to see the forests of Goa in their maximum splendor. This sanctuary is located in the taluka (district) of Canacona in South Goa, just adjoining the border that Goa shares with the state of Karnataka. This sanctuary is well known for the dense forest cover here which is famous for its ability to prevent the sunlight from directly reaching the ground. The Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary was set up in the year 1969 and spans over 86 sq km of forest full of animals, like gazelles, hyenas, panthers, porcupines and the like.
