Situated at a distance of 43 km from the capital of the state of Goa, Panaji and approximately 30 km from the main bus stand at Mapusa, is the Kalacha Beach. This beach is adjacent to the popular Querim Beach and can be reached after a short walk there. This beach was found by members of the 60’s counterculture movement (popularly known as “hippies”) and became popular for its tranquil environs. Tourists who want to steer clear of the crowds which can usually be found on other beaches can plan a visit to this beach, which lies in wait with offerings like palm trees swaying in the breeze, the beautiful coconut trees which span along the beach’s expanse and the small, inexpensive shacks facing the sea which can offer them some of the best foods. If that is not enough, there is also a small fresh water lagoon, which lies at the end of the beach.
