Location: Raj Angan is situated close to the entrance of City Palace, located in the beautiful city of Udaipur lying in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
Description: Often called as Gol Mahal, Raj Angan is King’s courtyard. It is a dome shaped structure that has been built according to the Mughal architecture style. This structure was constructed by Maharana Udai Singh in the year 1572. The architecture of this beautifully designed building is often compared with the architectural style of Taj Mahal.
Raj Angan was the place where grievances and proceedings for justice were carried out. At this place, the ruling king used to address people. The Raj Angan is decorated with portraits of different Mewar rulers. Various items belonging to Maharana Pratap have also been put up on display here. Tourists can have a look at the weapons and armors of the Mewar kings. A portion of the palace is also dedicated to Rana Pratap’s favorite horse, Chetak.
