On the north end of Palolem, is one of Goa’s most popular beaches called Butterfly Beach. This beach is located in a semi-circular bay and is definitely one of the most beautiful locations not only in all of Goa but along the entire Arabian Sea. Since it is not exactly a very popular tourist destination, visitors can expect a great deal of tranquility here. However, this isolated beach also has little to no infrastructure present here for tourists, so those who wish to visit this place must carry their supplies (easily available in nearby Palolem) with them. This beach earns its name from the large number of butterflies, which come here during the time when the flora begins to bloom. One great activity for tourists is to wait for the low tide, wherein they can see a variety of marine life on the exposed beach, like crabs, sea urchins, and a fortunate few might even spot a dolphin or two here.
