The magnificent Reis Magos Fort has witnessed the extraordinary history and turmoil that took place in Goa over centuries. Built in the year 1493 to provide protection to Old Goa from approaching enemy ships, Reis Magos Fort is one of the oldest monuments that you can visit in Goa. This fort personifies the endeavors that Portuguese made to protect their territory from invaders. After serving as a defense system, this fort was later turned into a prison after the Portuguese rule collapsed. Situated on the north side of Mandovi River, it is around two miles away from Fort Aguada, another famous attraction of Goa. Despite being centuries old, the Reis Magos Fort is still in very well kept condition, as it has been restored well while keeping its structural integrity and historical relevance intact. Located just below the fort is the Reis Magos Church which is a popular site of this village.
