Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary

Spread over an area of nearly 240 sq. km in the town of Mollem, the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the ideal places for tourists, who are interested in knowing more about the flora and fauna of the Western Ghats, being the largest protected wildlife area out of the four present in the state. Many tourists think that Goa is all about the sun, sand and sea but what is often ignored is the abundant natural beauty of this entire region. This sanctuary, which also houses the Mollem National Park, lies towards the eastern part of Goa and is situated at a distance of 54 km from Margao and 53 km from the Karnataka Border en route from Panaji to Belgaum. Tourists can take a jeep ride through this sanctuary which not only has a large variety of animals but also reptiles and birds for the nature enthusiastic tourists to enjoy.
