One of the most attractive views in Hampi is the Shivalinga, which stands amidst a pool of water at a height of 3 meters. It is also known as Badavi Linga, or the big lingam, always enclosed by water.
According to the local legend, a poor aboriginal from Hampi offered to install a Shiva Linga, if his luck changed for the better. Accepting the poor devotee’s offer, Lord Shiva changed his fortune and the Shivalinga was carved out of a huge stone. It is indeed a magnificent structure.
