Described in the great epic of the Ramayana as the hermitage of Saint Matanga, Matangi Hill commands a special attention in Hampi. Being the highest peak of Hampi, it is the perfect spot to capture an aerial sight of Hampi and its surroundings. For trekkers, Matangi hill is a perfect hillock with a trekking route connecting the Hampi Bazaar with the Achyuta Raya’s Temple in the northern region. The rooftop of the Veerabhadra Temple on the summit is an ideal spot to experience the sunrise and sunset at this place seeped in history. No entrance or camera fees are applicable at this hillock.
