Anegundi Fort, Karnataka

Anegundi Fort

The Anegundi fort is actually a large expanse of ruins, surrounding the main centers of Hampi. Thought to be a magnificent barrier of protection at one time, the fort lies scattered on the boundary of Hampi, protecting the enclosures and temples within. The Mourya Mane depicts the neolithic history of the region, a several-thousand-year-old Stone Age Colony. Several Neolithic dwellings bear paintings that have remained intact even till date. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site, with spectacularly designed entrance gates
