Location: Hawa Mahal, located in the heart of city on Johari Bazaar road, is considered as one of the most impressive buildings in Jaipur. It was constructed in the year 1799 by Sawai Pratap Singh and Lalchand Usta was the designer of this beautiful memorial.
Description: Hawa Mahal is a five storied building with trellised casements, spires, small windows and arches. Hawa Mahal looks like a light roomy structure which might get puffed away by a light breeze. This Mahal forms a part of the ladies quarters and served as gallery for the royal ladies. A cool atmosphere is witnessed in this Hawa Mahal where Royal ladies used to sit with comfort and though being veiled, would watch the various proceedings around them. This Mahal reminds of the impressive history of Jaipur. Red sand stone has been used in the construction of this structure which otherwise is known as Palace of winds.
Activities: People visit this place in order to witness its unique structure as it is considered as different from the other monuments that can be seen in the pink city. Now this building is more than 200 years old and we can see the beauty has not diminished till now, which proves the efficient work that has been done by the craftsmen and masons of that time.
