Location: This fort is located in Amer, Rajasthan, which is a town located at a distance of 11 kilometers from the pink city, Jaipur.
Description: Amber fort is famous for the artistic work that it is adorned with. The fort presents an example of the Rajputana and Hindu ways of life. With its cobbled paths, series of gates and large ramparts, the fort overpasses the Lake Maota which flows near its forefront.
This fort was constructed in the 16th century by Raja Maan Singh, who was a faithful general of the great Emperor Jalaluddin Mohammad Akbar. The Emperor was very impressed with the Raja and had included him as one of the nine gems of his Mughalia court. Amber fort was constructed in red and white sandstone. This temple also saw construction of the shrine of Sheetla Mata which is considered as the goddess of Royal clan.
The fort comprises of Diwaan-e-aam which means a hall for the general public. The King used to listen to the problems and complaints of the common masses in that hall. A hall for special guests, called Diwan-e-khaas, was used for some special guests and it has special work of glass art done on it. There are other attractions like Sukh Niwas and Sheesh Mahal in this fort which make it a place worth a watch.
