Jai Pol

Location: Jai Pol is located at a distance of 5 kilometers from Jodhpur city. Meaning of Jai pol is gate of victory and it is considered as a historic structure in the beautiful fort of Meharangarh in Jodhpur.

Description: Maharaja Man Singh built Jai Pol in the year 1806. He was the King of Marwar during that time. The construction of this gate was done as a celebration of the victory of Marwar over the kingdoms of Bikaner and Jaipur, which were defeated after menacing battles.

This gate is the most impressive of all the seven gates of the fort. It is a historical place and provides a remembrance of the victories and celebrations of victories of that time. The walls near the gate have scars that were made by the cannon balls during earlier battles, which are visible till date. This Pol is a great work of art depicting the craftsmanship of that time and has a special value for the royal family.

Activities: Tourists can visit this beautiful structure, as this place remains open for public on all days from 9 am in the morning till 5 pm in the evening. Moreover, there is no entry fee, so tourists can witness the beauty of this Jai Pol free of cost.
