SRISAILAM- A Majestic Hill Town

Situated on the Nallamala hills in Andhra Pradesh, the town of Srisailam was founded on the banks of Krishna River. A well known hill town, Srisailam is famous for housing a large number of temples, a dam and a sanctuary. This hill town offers scenic attractions and panoramic view of the surroundings.

The highest spot of this hill town, Sikharam is renowned for its eye catching sceneries as well as its splendid natural beauty. Sikhareswara Swamy temple which is situated on the hill top is dedicated to Lord Shiva and another temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha is also present in the vicinity.

Visited by thousands of devotees, Srisailam is regarded as a holy town for the Hindu community. Various temples dedicated to different deities are present in this region. One of the famous temples is the Bhramaramba Mallikarjunaswamy temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. In this temple, Lord Shiva is worshiped as Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy while Goddess Parvati is canonized as Devi Bhramaramba. Being one of the 12 Jyotilinga Temples, it is considered very important.

Another place which is regarded as sacred is the Mallela Theertham. It is believed that by bathing in this waterfall a person can wash away all his sins. The wildlife sanctuary here remains an important attraction amongst wildlife enthusiasts.

The lush green forests of Nallamala forest range are ideal for undertaking different adventurous activities, such as forest exploration, trekking and hill climbing. So a person can plan a trip to Srisailam and enjoy the activities that are liked by him the most.
