SHIVAGANGE- A Divine Place for Pilgrims

Located at a distance of 60 km from the city of Bangalore, Shivagange, a small hillock got its name from the temple of Lord Shiva which is situated on the hillock’s top. A spring, the water of which is considered to be sacred, adds to the charm of Shivagange. It is believed that this holy spring is an outgrowth of the River Ganges.  

This hillock experiences mild climate, which makes a trip to the place favorable all around the year but the best time for marking a visit is from the month of June till the month of September. Occasional spell of rain increases the beauty of the region making it look wonderful.

Various attractions that are offered by this region for religiously inclined people include the Nandi Statue, Patala Gange, Oralakallu Temple and the Gangadhareshwara Temple. The Patala Ganga temple is the place of origin of the holy spring. It is also believed by the local residents that a secret tunnel connects the ancient Gangadhareshwara Temple with the Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple situated in Bangalore. Also taking a bath in the spring is believed to free a person from his ailments.
