Rae Bareli – emerging hub of information technology

Serving as the secretarial headquarters of the Rae-Bareli province and the municipal district in Uttar Pradesh, is the renowned city Rae Bareli. Located 82kms away from its capital, Lucknow, it is situated on the banks of marvelous River Sai.

Although the city was established by the British in the year 1858, but as per the legends it was created and developed by Bhars because of which it came to be known as Bareli and its first half ‘Rae’ is taken from the nearby village, Rahi.

For tourists who are inclined more towards religion, it is a perfect place to hop in for ideal holidays. You can see various temples, namely the Hanuman Mandir, Mansa Devi temple, Kali temple and the eminent Shiva Temple, which are some of the most magnificent structures located here and are worth watching. Apart from this, there are many interesting places and shopping areas to visit. However, the major attraction of the town is its adventure sports which invite huge scores of tourists all round the year.

Other significant tourism spots in its premises are Indira Gandhi Memorial Botanical Garden which has abundance of lush greenery and different varieties of flowers and fruits which are used for scientific research. Due to this the town is well known as the centre for information technology and is the first public sector form of ITI Ltd undertaken by it. Other places to visit include the Samaspur Bird Sanctuary and several prehistoric tombs built by the great Nawabs Jahan Khan and the dominant Shah Jahan.
