Puri is well linked through south eastern railway network, connecting it to southern Indian states. This terminus also serves the east coast railways which ply regular direct express and super fast trains from New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Ahmadabad, Tirupati etc. The rail head is about 1 km north of the town. From the station tourists can hire rickshaws or auto to get to Puri.
Puri is located at a distance of 60kms from Biju Patnaik, which is the only domestic airport located in Bhubaneswar. There are frequent flight services from Calcutta, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi and Mumbai with reasonably priced tickets. International travelers need to get connecting flights through Delhi or Kolkata. Daily flights to/from Bhubaneswar like Air Deccan, Kingfisher and Indian Airlines are available to reach Puri in a shorter span of time.
Puri is linked to Bhubaneswar by state highway thus connecting it to Chennai and Kolkata. Tourists can opt for state government buses from Bhubaneswar to reach Puri in a few hours. Also there are mini buses and tourist buses available that leave every 20-30 minutes from main bus stand. Orissa Tourism Development Corporation runs deluxe buses for sightseeing tours and connects Puri to many cities like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Konark.
