The city rose to eminence as the home of nawabs. Lucknow has a vibrant history and is believed that it got its name from Lakshman, the younger brother of Lord Rama and was earlier called Lakshman Pore that later came to known as Lucknow.
Lucknow has always ruled as one of the imperative centers of Muslim cultural influence.
