Lonar

Located in Buldhana district of Maharashtra, Lonar holds an esteemed position on the travel map of India. The presence of a large number of ancient temples and magnificent lakes makes it a sought after destination for pilgrims, as well as tourists. The Daitya Sudan Temple of Lunar is the most visited temple of this region.

The main attraction of this place is the lunar crater; it is believed that this natural structure was formed around 52,000 years ago, due to the impact of a meteorite on the planes of this region. The place has become a main tourist attraction mainly because of the lake which now has taken the place of the crater. Moreover the lush green surroundings make the whole experience an unforgettable one.

Apart from good site scenes, it is also a nice place to see from close a large variety of birds, and other animals. The area around the lake has many peacocks, ducks, red-wattled lapwings and owls.
