Jamshedpur- the Iron and Steel town of India
Jamshedpur was founded by a personality named Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata. Tata Steel, one of the most important ventures of the Tata Group, has been housed in this region of Jharkhand state. Due to this, Jamshedpur is also known by the name Tatanagar. Lord Chelmsford suggested the name Jamshedpur to show his respect and regard for Jamshedji Tata back in the year 1919. From industrial point of view Jamshedpur is an important hub and has a rich stock of mineral resources. As a result, the plants here deals in resources like coal, iron, iron ore, steel, cement manufacturing, manufacturing of trucks, lime, manganese, bauxite, along with the production of tin plate.
Jamshedpur is one of the highest revenue generating cities of India. The first ever iron and steel manufacturing plant was laid down by Jamshedji Tata back in the year 1908 in this city and since then there is no looking back. Jamshedpur shot to fame not just as an industrial hub of India, but also as a well-planned and laid down cities. Due to the excellent planning of infrastructure and the praiseworthy network of roads, Jamshedpur has been made a part of the UN Global Compact City.
