How to Reach Dalhousie

To ensure a comfortable journey, while enjoying the picturesque views of Himachal Pradesh, travelling to Dalhousie by train is definitely the best option. Pathankot, a city in Punjab located about 80 Kms away from Dalhousie, has its own railway station and serves as the main point for reaching Dalhousie. From there tourists can avail trains to other prominent cities as well, such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore.

By Air

Travelling to Dalhousie by air is considered to be the most convenient option, which saves a lot of time as well. Although there is no airport in Dalhousie, but Gaggal in Kangra district has an airport located at a distance of 140 Kms from Dalhousie. Other terminals are located at Jammu & Kashmir and Amritsar. The distance of both these destinations from Dalhousie is around 190 Kms. After reaching these airports, tourists can avail taxi services, which operate on regular basis, to reach Dalhousie.

By Bus

In the absence of a railway station and airport, it is the extensive road network which connects Dalhousie to other cities through private and government operated bus services. Although travelling by bus can seem time consuming, but the scenic views you can enjoy travelling on the winding mountain roads are worth it. Regular bus service is available from nearby cities, including Chamba (56 Kms), Pathankot (80 Kms), Amritsar (118 Kms), Dharamshala (143 Kms), Jammu (188 Kms), Chandigarh (352 Kms), Delhi (563 Kms) and Manali (402 Kms).
