New Okhla Industrial Development Area popularly called Noida is the face of the changing India. The city has been developed entirely keeping in mind the changing needs of the urban middle class. Based on the suburban counties of Britain, Noida is a desperate effort to come in terms with the changing reality of today's world.

The founding stone of the city was put in the year 1976 when it was decided to shift the pollution emitting medium and small-scale industries from Delhi. The idea didn't succeed initially as only a very small fraction of industries shifted to Noida. But it was found in mid eighties that more and more people are buying land for the residential purpose. The city got a fresh lease of life during the Information Technology boom of Mid-Nineties when IT firms started shifting their offices to Noida in wake of comparatively cheap rent and lucrative tax incentives. Today Noida is a bustling town of close to 5 lacks people and figures prominently on the IT and Electronic Industry Map of the world. The rents are competitive to places of such repute as London's West End and New York's Manhattan. This beautifully laid city has become a model for similar other cities that now marks the Indian landscape. The city is now home to thousands of small and medium units apart from offices of several IT giants. The city is still spreading.

Noida is connected through a good network of roads to Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The New Delhi Railway Station is a mere 30 min drive from Noida and the Indira Gandhi International Airport a 55 Minutes drive. Interstate Bus Terminal at Sector-34, Noida connects it to other cities.

The Howrah-Delhi railway line is passing through district Gautam Budh Nagar (Surajpur), which is close to Noida. Noida is also already connected with Delhi by EMU service with stoppages at Dadri, Boraki, Ajaibpur and Dankaur and is only 35 minutes away from New Delhi or Old Delhi railway station. The railway stations nearest to Noida are Nizamuddin, New Delhi, Old Delhi Railway Station, Shahdra in Delhi and Ghaziabd Railway Station in Ghaziabd.

The nearest airport is the Indira Gandhi International Airport, which is connected to many cities in the country and outside, by regular flights operated by private and govt. pliers.

Sector 18 Market is a major shopping centre and also has several restaurants, including all the well-known chains, as well as cinema multiplexes. This is the place to be for shopping, dining, and evening entertainment.

Noida Park is at the border of U.P. and Delhi and is a lovely green area, with landscaped lawns and fountains that are lit up at night. The children's park is a major attraction here.

Noida Golf Course in Sector 37 is one of the better-known golf courses of India. It is an 18-hole course, with a large lake at the 7th hole; and it was also the site of the historic battle of Delhi.

Akshardham Temple is across the border of Delhi but just 2-3 km from Noida. Built only a few years ago, this Swaminarayan temple complex draws thousands of devotees and tourists each day. 

Delhi Darshan can easily be done from Noida since Connaught Place is only 14km away. You can go to the city centre and book a guided tour to see the capital's highlights.

Zoological Gardens or the Delhi Zoo is just about 8km from Noida, and is a place worth visiting.

Pragati Maidan is the hub of Delhi where all the International Trade fairs and exhibitions are held; it is just 5-6 km from Noida.
