Karwar, the port town on the banks of the Kali Nadi river is the administrative head quarters of North Kanara District in Karnataka. It is an Excellent Beach resort with beautiful palm fringed beaches. Once an important trade centre especially for pepper, Karwar was also the settlement of the British and the Portuguese. Once in a year there is a grand annual festival on this once inhabited island.People From Goa & Karnataka flock to this island once in a year somewhere in January to offer prayers to lord Narasimha. It is believed that this Half Lion & Half Human diety, Reincarnation of Lord Vishnu in Hindu Mythology, swam accross the sea & made his way to this Island tearing it apart & made it it's abode. The Island has a sweet water pond despite the fact that it is located some nautical miles away from Karwar City in mid Arabian sea.

Binaga beach is located about 5 km from Karwar in Uttara Kannada District. The beach is famous for its natural beauty and wide seashore. It is a risk free beach and attracts international tourists. It offers clean and calm atmosphere for the visitors. The beach is covered by green hilltops on three sides.
