Location: Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary is positioned in Unnao district of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The sanctuary is positioned on the National Highway and is equidistant (that is 45 kilometers) from both Lucknow and Kanpur.
Description: This sanctuary is an ideal place for those who are nature lovers and aspiring photographers. It is a wetland and has a shallow lake, present in the midst of a forest. Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary serves as a home for various bird species which are both residential and migratory. Common birds that are seen here are teal, moorhen, purple, pochards, shovellers, parakeets, coots and woodpeckers. The atmosphere of this sanctuary remains filled with the sounds of their rhymes and songs. Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary was declared as a protected area by the Government of India in the year 1984. This Sanctuary also functions as a Bird Interpretation Center, which functions as a knowledge provider about various species of birds and their behavioral pattern. It is a small bird sanctuary and occupies an area of around 3 square kilometers.
