A minister of Awadh state, named Tikait Rai, was the person who constructed Patthar Ghat which is made of red stone. Patthar Ghat is a place where the devotees take a bath. It is an example of great work of art and presents great ancient architectural design. A temple devoted to Lord Shiva is also present near this Ghat. Special feature of this Shiva temple is that the shivling that exists there is made of kasauti or philosopher’s stone. Temple is visited by quite a number of pilgrims and devotees all around the year. Taking a bath in this Ghat is considered to be of great religious importance.
