Location: Gurkha Fort is situated in Subathu, a small town falling under the district of Kasauli. It can be easily reached by undertaking a journey of approximately 16 km from the small town of Parwanoo.
Description: The cantonment area of Subathu serves as a host to the remains of Gurkha Fort, which is amongst the major tourist attractions in the neighborhood of Parwanoo. The Fort is enclosed by a thick forest cover and can be reached via road as it is well connected to National Highway 22. Gurkha Fort is housed at an altitude of nearly 4500 feet above sea level in the remote corner of the town, which has several other buildings standing as a proud witness of the British era. The Parwanoo town serves as a regimental centre for the Gurkha Rifles. There are several tales related to this fort. According to one such story, Gurkha Fort was constructed by the chief of the Gurkha Army, named Amar Singh Thapa, with the aim to fight against the British Army. Another story states that Gurkhas conquered this fort when it was under the custody of King of Patiala.
