Description: Ramakrishna Math is a religious monument, which is regarded as a part of Hindu reform movements or Hindu revivalism to introduce classless Hinduism. This Math was initiated by Swami Vivekananda who followed the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna. The Ramakrishna Math comprises of mainly two parts, one is Vivekananda Polyclinic and the other is a temple of Sri Ramakrishna. Swami Vivekananda was the one, who inaugurated the polyclinic in the month of June, 1970. At the entrance of this institution there is a 14 foot high idol of Swami Vivekananda, which is made of bronze metal and erected by Devi Prasad Rai Chaudhary who is a famous sculptor. Almost seven therapies are augmented by this multi specialty hospital, including Homeopathy, Ayurvedic, Naturopathy, Yoga and Acupressure, to provide cures to people suffering from various diseases. Ramakrishna Temple consists of three idols of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Ma Sharda Devi and Swami Vivekananda. The mesmerizing beauty of this temple is worth watching and that is why this temple is a main attraction for tourists and the center of sanctity.
Activities: Ramakrishna Math is situated in the center of the city and the polyclinic devotes services to people belonging to financially low communities. Tourists may also contribute by donating funds to help many deserving people.
