Description: This institute was established by the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso in the year 1959. It was previously known as Tibetan Music, Dance and Drama Society and was built with an aim of preserving the Tibetan heritage. This complex offers a vast array of courses which also include classes for dance, theater and opera. This institute works with a man force of 112 people which includes instructors, craftsmen, artists and administrative staff. The open courtyard adds to the beauty of the institute and various performances are also held at this place. A workshop is also present in this institute where masks and costumes are prepared for the artists. Every year this institute hosts a function which stretches over a period of 10 days.
