Description: Durga Parameshwari Temple is situated on a small island in the middle of the holy River Nandini. Innumerable people from all over the country visit this sacred place throughout the year to worship Goddess Durga. This temple is situated in the middle of River Nandini. The old name of Katil was Kateel, which is derived from two words Kati, which means centre area and Ila, which means the birthplace of River Nandini. It is believed that River Nandni is the embodiment of Goddess Durga, who is responsible to bring prosperity and happiness in Katil. This temple comprises of the main idol of Durga Parameshwari. Idols of Sahstara, also known as Ayyappa, Ganesha, Brahma and Chamunda can also be seen inside the temple. This holy place is surrounded by the beauty of nature and attractive greenery. Vasanthotsava, Pattnaje and Kadiru Habba are the main festivals celebrated every year in this temple.
Activities: A prominent pilgrimage spot, this temple is very famous for festivals celebrated in the beginning of Mesha Sakranti every year and these continue for eight days.
