Description: The construction of Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery was completed in the year 1861 and it was initially the residence of the Kings of Mysore. This art gallery of Mysore has a wide collection of artifacts, as it is solely dedicated to the presentation and conservation of art. Some of the artifacts exhibit the scenes from sacred Hindu epics, such as ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Mahabharata’. Massive collection of paintings that belong to different Indian styles, like Mysore, Mughal and Shantiniketan, is present in this museum. Lady with the lamp, a famous painting made by artist Haldenkar, is a magnificence piece of art in this gallery. Nikolai Roerich, Svetoslav Roerich and Rabindranath Tagore were some famous artists of their time and their paintings are also exhibited here. A French clock, in which tiny warriors come out every hour marching, is a unique artifact displayed in this building.
