The River is in the Nanjangud district of Mysore and it is also known by the names like Kabini & Kapila. It is near the town HD Kote and is approximately 80kms from Mysore. It also acts as a big basin of Kabini. It consists of the southeastern Inaugural National Park and it is Karnatakaâ€™s major wildlife destination.
On the banks of the river is the wildlife sanctuary that has beautiful vast lakes, along with green land all around. The forests are spread over a huge area of 55 acres, consisting of forestland and water bodies. Glimpse of elephant herds is a fairly common sight. It is a perfect place for setting up camps and indulging in trekking activities to Kumara Parvatha or Tadiyadamol.
The backwaters are also a perfect place for tourists to enjoy and relax in the pure environment.
