Location: Located in a scenic mountain setting and covering an area of around 15 square miles, Lake Pashan is a beautiful artificial lake. It is located near a suburb of Pashan and at a distance of 12 km from Pune city.
Description: Pashan Lake came into existence in the year 1990. The motive of creating this artificial lake was to accommodate the water requirements of the nearby locations, including the old Pashan village. The man-made Pashan Lake has a total catchment area of 40 square kilometers and built by bounding a small rivulet, Ram Nadi. You can enjoy hours of pleasure on Lake Pashan taking a stroll around its shoreline. The lake is known for its charming beauty and panorama of surrounding landscapes covering it on all sides. Another factor that attracts people towards this lake is bird watching. Numerous migratory birds can be seen on the sides of Pashan Lake and that makes it a popular spot among bird watchers. A 300-meter footpath called Natural Trail is constructed alongside the lake, from where you can watch a huge variety of avifauna, including Pained Stork, Egret, Black Kites, Red Wattled Lapwing, Pied Kingfisher, Cormorants, Ibis, River Tern, Spot Billed Ducks and many more.
