Located at an elevation of around 2133m and at a distance of about 5km from the main town, is the renowned Baba Reshi Shrine. This beautiful piece of architecture was named after a legendary saint and a Muslim scholar, Baba Reshi.
It is believed that Baba Reshi ruled Kashmir in the early 15th century and was a member of the court under the reign of King Zain-ul-Abidin. This splendid structure was built in 1480, as a mark of respect to Baba. Surrounded with lush greenery and different varieties of flowers, the shrine looks very attractive and appealing.
It is built using the Persian and Mughal structural designs, whereas inside the tomb wooden art and craft is used which signifies the grandeur of the ethnic era of Gulmarg. This highly honored pious memorial attracts thousands of visitors all round the year. One can easily reach the shrine via local transport or by means of field shafts and sledges.
