Description: Built during the reign of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, the splendid structure of Pari Mahal is a reminiscent of Islamic architecture and patronage of bygone era. Situated on the south-west of Dal Lake, this monument was constructed by Prince Dara Shikoh around 1600. Surrounded by a seven terraced garden, the royal structure was erected on the ruins of a Buddhist monastery. Mughal emperor constructed it with the motive of teaching astrology and astronomy. No matter in which season you visit this place, the garden remains attractive always. All the paths around the palace lead to the colorful flower beds, quiet corners, and a spring in the very middle of the garden, where the Pari Mahal is located. The stone walls of this palace and greenery of the garden create such a landscape that you might have not observed at any other place in the world.
