Location:Vaishno Devi is a cave temple that is situated in Trikuta Mountains, 1615 m over the sea level. At the foothills of this mountain lies Katra which functions as a camping site. For reaching this temple you are supposed to take a steep ascent of around 13 kilometers. There is arrangement of palanquins and ponies as well, which makes it easier to cover this distance.

Description: The Famous Vaishno Devi shrine is positioned in Katra, Jammu region. This temple is thronged by thousands of pilgrims every year and is considered as one of the most visited religious destinations spread all over the country. This pilgrimage site is considered to be built by the Pandavas. The goddess worshiped here is considered to be embodiment of three goddesses, Maha Lakshmi, Maha Saraswathi and Maha Kali. This temple remains open for the devotees throughout the year, but winter season is a harsh time to visit because the temperature levels fall below zero degrees. There are sufficient arrangements for accommodation in Katra for the tourists. However, because of heavy rush of people, it is better to plan and make arrangements for your stay there in advance.

Activities: Devotees, besides having darshan of the temple, can also shop for various items of religious importance. They can buy images, idols, as well as CDs and cassettes of religious songs and stories.
