Location: This temple is located in the interior of the Bahu Fort in Jammu, which was constructed by Raja Bahulochan around 300 years ago.
Description: Bawey Wali Mata Templeis considered to be built in the year 1822, immediately after Maharaja Gulab Singh’s accession of the throne. The presiding deity of the temple is goddess Kali, although the temple comprises of small temples of other deities as well. Local people believe that Bawey Wali Mata is the main deity of the entire Jammu region. This temple is ranked second in the entire region, following the famous Mata Vaishno Devi temple which is renowned throughout India. Mata is considered to be having mystical powers and it is believed that Mata acts as a savior of the people of Jammu region from any threats and intrusions by enemies.
Activities: A number of devotees throng this temple on Sundays and Tuesdays to offer prayers and ask pardon from Mata for their sins. Bhajan and Kirtan is a regular feature of this temple, which makes the atmosphere very pious and relaxing. Bagh-e-Bahu is located near this temple that is a favorite picnic spot because of a beautiful garden and the facility of boating available in this place.
