One of the legends says that Lord Vishnu killed a demon Tarakasura and took penance at this place. There is one more interesting legend according to which an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu lost his way in the hillside and he began meditating. Lord Vishnu appeared in front of him and told him to take a dip in this pond. After taking the holy bath, the devotee at once turned into a young boy of sixteen years.
