Location: A highly revered sacred ghat among Hindu devotees, Triveni Ghat is the confluence of three holy water bodies, River Ganges, River Yamuna and River Saraswati.
Description: Situated on the banks of River Ganges, Triveni Ghat is used as a scared bathing place by devotees. It is believed that a dip in the holy water flushes away all the sins and frees one from the cycle of rebirth. Devotees especially come to Rishikesh so that they can visit Triveni Ghat. Kumbh Mela is regarded as the largest peaceful gathering, when lacks of devotees from all over India come to this sacred pilgrimage site to offer prayers and enjoy a dip in the holy water at the confluence of three holy rivers. In the morning at the time of sunrise people offer milk to Goddess Ganga, this is River Ganges itself. You must take a boat ride in the gushing water of Ganges, as this way you can also feed the lovely fishes and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding areas.
Activities: Ganga Aarti, which takes place at dusk, is a must see event, when devotees and priests gather to worship holy River Ganges. They float petals of flowers and lamps in the water, as the river presents a magnificent view during this ceremony.
