Location: The famous and divine Chottanikkara Bhagavathy Temple is situated in the close neighborhood of Ernakulum district of the state of Kerala.
Description: The temple worships Hindu Goddess Rajarajaeshwari as the main deity. The Goddess is also famous by the name of Bhagavathy. Hindu pilgrims from all across the nation come here to offer prayers to the Goddess and seek her blessings for their family and loved ones. The temple is known for its intricate architecture in the interior, as well as exterior and showcases a sculpture dedicated to Lord Viswakarma. Goddess Bhagavathy is worshipped in this temple in her three forms or avatars during the day. In the morning she is worshipped as Goddess Saraswathi and is dressed in white color. At noon, the form worshipped is of Goddess Lakshmi dressed in crimson color, while in the evening Goddess Durga dressed in blue color. Lord Shiva along with Naga, Sastha, Ganapathy, Narayana, and Subramanya and a few other gods are worshipped in this temple.
Activities: Chottanikkara Makkam Thozhal is a famous festival celebrated here with great joy in the month of Kumbham, according to the Malayalam calendar. It is celebrated as pilgrims believe that on this day, Goddess Bhagavathy appeared before Vilwamangalam Swamiyar.
